Lennox & Addington Public Libraries has found success in offering programming for young families with the help of a certified canine companion. Karma, the story dog, attends each weekly session where she provides sound effects for stories and woofs her way through each sing-along. Karma acts as a novelty draw for reluctant young readers and, much to the delight of both parents and tots, allows for an interactive and untraditionally boisterous storytime. Through sound and play, Karma’s presence has helped the library turn reading into an uproarious social event.
