Over a hundred years of “Putting Knowledge to Work” by sharing it!

Interesting how much we can learn from each other.  Some cultures are so much stronger in sharing, mentoring, and cultivating learning in others.  SLA (Special Libraries Association) an international organization of 15,000 members when I was president in 1995, has an amazing sharing culture.  I was reminded of it a few minutes ago when Martha Foote, of LibraryCo shared the following,

“I’m delighted to tell you that LibraryCo launched its new web site this morning. You can see the new page at http://www.libraryco.ca/  The reason I’m telling you about the new page is because SLA played a part in its creation and launch. Our new page has been created using WordPress.  I was able to “sell” the LibraryCo Board of Directors on this idea by showing them examples of pages that had been built using WordPress. Several were from SLA, including the Legal Division, LMD, Toronto Chapter and the Baseball Caucus. While other factors came into play, SLA’s success with WordPress did make a huge difference in terms of securing the approval to move ahead with the new page. So here is another success story for SLA and another example of how an organization can become future ready!”

Gives you the warm and fuzzies, doesn’t it?  So who have you shared with, mentored and encouraged today?
