Conference Wikis

It is amazing to me how information professionals embrace new technologies. Last spring the Computers in Libraries 2006 conference wiki exploded with activity. Thanks again to Meredith Farkas for getting it started and for being my wiki mentor! The Internet Librarian 2006 conference wiki is also blooming with attendee profiles & schedules and discussions. On the other hand, the KMWorld & Intranets conference wiki is slower to develop although there are some cool things from the intranet techie side.

That’ll probably be because knowledge managers are too busy doing grown up things like managing knowledge to mess around with childish things like wikis!

“Information professionals” (aka librarians) really take to sharing information. KM professionals may come from other backgrounds that are not as social, especially about sharing what they know.
