I haven’t had much time to read the last little bit and what a treat to read Wired magazine while on a plane today. I already knew from Jeffrey Veen’s blog that Intranets 2005 keynote speaker , Jesse James Garrett, Founder, Adaptive Path & Author, The Elements of User Experience won a Wired Rave Award. There were so many neat things to read about in the June isse of Wired, but especially the article about Harold Varmus, Nobel prize winner and former head of the NIH, and now President and Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The article talked about how he is trying to make scientific research free and universally available. Open access was a big topic at Information Today conferences not long ago. And it’s great to see the program Varmus had made with Public Library of Science and online journals. Good article.
