Knowledge Ontario

A great presentation, and a great planning example, I heard this morning at the Ontario Library Association’s Superconference 2006 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Peter Rogers, Chair, Ontario Digital Library (ODL) discussed ODL’s new positioning, the collabroative vision of Ontario’s college, public, school, and university libraries, and how principles of knowledge management and knowledge creation are related to government priorities. This is a great example of organizational alignment — the ODL (now Knowledge Ontario) and it’s alignment with the library community as well as government priorities which were articulated in the 2005 throne speech — Ontario’s success as a knowledge based economy built on creativity and innovation. The library community has invited the Ontario government to be a partner in establishing Knowledge Ontario. Rogers presented the context and background, vision, and strategic priories such as OurOntario.ca and AskOntario.ca.
